Difference between Emo and Scene kids
The term emo has been around for a few years now however emo now has competition in the way of what is being referred to as “scene”. The term/label scene is relatively new, so how do you differentiate between the two.
Many of us know more or less what emo is about and the stereotypical look associated with the label. You know what I am talking about, the hairstyles, tight pants, painted nails and makeup (guys and girls) and most importantly the fact that their preferred color scheme is black. Emo kids tend to stick to their own groups. In this inner circle or on emo blogs they might be outspoken but outside of this group they are usually very shy or soft spoken. Emo kids are very artistic in nature be it via music, poetry or art.
The new kid on the block or scene kids are somewhat different. They are very active and like to be seen, hence the name/label. These kids can be identified with strange looking hair similar to emo but different in the fact that their hair will usually be a variation of bright colors. Their clothing will also be bright in color. The scene kids are usually part of the local music scene and attend a lot of concerts.
If any of these describes your kids I encourage you to have a emo chat with them find out which one of these labels they most want to be associated with or if any label at all. I know for sure that I personally wouldn’t want to be labelled as anything specific other than being me.
